What
is an Authorized Provider?
An Authorized Provider is a company, agency or organization
who has a need to utilize American Red Cross health and
safety training curriculum to provide training to their
employees, members or customers. The Authorized Provider
agency sends one or more representatives to American Red
Cross instructor training. That instructor then teaches
American Red Cross training courses to the organization's
employees, members or customers. All organizations are
required to sign an Authorized Provider Agreement in order
to be approved to provide Red Cross programs and issue
Red Cross certifications. The agreement, which is updated
as changes occur, outlines mutual expectations, rights
and responsibilities of the Red Cross and businesses and
organizations providing Red Cross. Some of these responsibilities
include providing the following:
A suitable classroom with
tables and chairs, plus ample floor space for practice
sessions. A carpeted floor is nice, but not required.
- TV/DVD
- American Red Cross Authorized Instructor
- Textbook/workbook and required supplies for each
student
- Timely payment of invoices
- Renting or purchasing required equipment as outlined
in the instructor manual
- Support the instructor to offer the curriculum
within the program guidelines

Red Cross takes steps to ensure its training standards
are maintained. These steps include:

relate to the instructor's responsibilities, including
an American Red Cross Instructor Agreement

instructors
